Zhoushan is an important production area of sea water products in China. Because of its unique geographical location, climate conditions and growth environment, the seafood produced by Zhoushan is famous for its excellent quality and taste in the domestic and foreign markets.
In November 2014, “Zhoushan hairtail”, “Zhoushan yellow croaker” and “Zhoushan Portunus trituberculatus” were among the first batch of seafood geographical indication certification trademarks in China.
According to the Convention, the price of agricultural products with geographical indication certification trademark is generally 15% – 80% higher than that of similar products, and even more. Anji white tea and Linhai tangerine are the best examples. Geographical indications have also become an identity symbol of products.
